All Wild Birds Are Protected By Law

I am sending this message out in regards to the recent death of a swan on the Footscray Meadows. It is suspected that the death of the swan was caused by an air rifle, catapult or a dog. This is a reminder to everyone that all wild birds are protected by law and this recent incident as well as the reports of anti-social behaviour in the meadows are being taken very seriously. Joint patrols between your local officers and mounted branch are planned starting on the 08/08/2025 with more dates throughout August planned. If anybody sees any wildlife being harmed or has any information regarding these reports, please contact the Police.
